They are shares in an investment fund that reflect the composition of an index, like the MSCI USA, SMI® or the Dow Jones EURO STOXX 50®. They can be traded on SWX in Switzerland, SWX Europe Ltd., Deutsche Börse in Germany and Euronext in Paris during normal market hours in the same way you would trade any stock.
